Xavier samuel gay
Directed by Craig Boreham. Things are changing for Mik. His world xavier been turned upside down by the sudden death of his older brother forcing him to redefine his place in his family. The one solid thing in Mik's life is his best friend Dan. But Dan has a new girlfriend Kate North Ash Sascha Marden.
Debbie Muller Angela Tompson. Having seen Teenage Kicks, the feature adaptation of this, first this was a very odd experience. It lacks that film's savage bite, the reason for Mik's brother's death is VERY different here nowhere near as horny or as traumatising and the conclusion with Dan is notably much sweeter.
That's probably for the best as the ending of this film is one of the sweetest things I've seen in ages. Reminded me of when I got depressed one time on the train home and my best friend let me rest my head on his lap. Xavier Bonnie Elliott and editor Adrian Rostirolla move seamlessly between close ups and wider shots to set a pace that matches the evolving story.
The central two actors do a fine job and the supporting cast are solid but, as is so often the case with short films, the screenplay is underwritten, so some choices the characters make are detached from the samuels of backstory that we get. Dialling the emotion up to full-on melodrama does the film no favours.
They have been friends sinceā¦. It's a good short film. Xavier Samuel is so gorgeous. I just found out that there is a full movie of this story called "Teenage Kicks" I think that the atmosphere is cool. I watched Craig Boreham's Teenage Kicks a few years ago, but I didn't know until recently that it was an adaptation of an earlier short film.
I samuel care to revisit that film because it left a pretty sour taste in my mouth, but I was still curious to watch this short. As some of the other reviews here state, it feels incomplete like there were some interesting ideas thay weren't fully developed. For that reason alone, it makes perfect sense gay a feature film gay of it.

I don't remember Mik being as much of an unlikeable prick in that one, but it was a few years ago so my memory of it isn't strongest. It makes sense for him to be this way given what he is going through. This short didn't end with Dan raping Mik, though, so I guess that's a plus in this one's favour. Themes of sexuality, class, grief, religion, substance, and friendship are all explored albeit not in the most novel or substantive way.
It did make me curious to see if the feature version is any good. I don't like anyone of them, and it's not because they are evil or something, but because they are badly written and acted characters.
